Medical workers in Liberia say 547 bodies have been buried after a massacre of civilians on Sunday and the death toll could reach 600, Reuter reports from Monrovia.

Liberia's interim government has ordered two investigations into the killings at Carter Camp, a farming camp near the town of Harbel, and says the Armed Forces of Liberia militia did not do enough to stop them. Survivors and the government say Charles Taylor's rebel group, the National Patriotic Front of Liberia, carried out the killings. The Front has denied responsibility.
