McDonald's damages slashed
CHICAGO - A court has reduced a dollars 2.7m ( pounds 1.7m) jury award to a woman burnt by a cup of McDonald's coffee to dollars 480,000, the company said on Wednesday. In August a jury in New Mexico ordered McDonald's to pay dollars 2.7m to Stella Liebeck, 81. According to testimony, Ms Liebeck suffered third-degree burns in 1992 after spilling coffee on her lap, when she tried to remove the cap from the styrofoam cup. A spokeswoman said the company would appeal against the reduced award. Reuter
