Iraq’s Ministry of Defence use dramatic action music as soundtrack to air strike footage

The choice of music by the Iraqi MoD is extremely questionable

Iraqi MOD Video with rather dramatic production

Iraq’s Ministry of Defense has released footage of airstrikes carried out last week targeting Isis strongholds in Ramadi.

The footage is set to overly dramatic music eerily similar to the soundtracks of Hollywood action blockbusters. Not quite ‘Flight of the Valkyries’ but it’s not far off; and the choice of dramatic music is not just a coincidence.

Iraq’s MoD YouTube channel is full of videos that contain bizarre action soundtracks, possibly in an attempt to glorify their military escapades.

They are not alone in overly dramatizing what should be a traditional government video.

Last month, Laszlo Toroczkai, the mayor of a town on the Hungary-Serbia border released an anti-refugee video which appeared to be a mash-up between a clichéd car advert and low budget film.
