One person not make the Jerusalem Post’s list was David Moyes, the in-coming Manchester United manager, and well-known Christian.
That did not stop the paper using a front page picture of the Mr Moyes last Friday under the headline ‘A Jewish Manager - David Moyes trusted with keys to Man United machine’. There was nothing in the story that explained why the Post believed the current Everton boss was Jewish.
In response to one reader’s letter – which suggested the newspaper had placed the story on its front page to attract football-mad readers, despite David Moyes not having any “Jewish family background whatsoever” - the newspaper’s sport editor admitted that, "we mistakenly identified new Manchester United manager David Moyes as being Jewish when in fact he is not. The Jerusalem Post sports staff sincerely apologises for any confusion this error might have caused."
