Minister resigns
Mexico's Interior Minister, Jorge Carpizo, resigned, saying he was 'indignant and disappointed' at the government and the ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party, Reuter reports from Mexico City.
Mr Carpizo wrote to President Carlos Salinas de Gortari that he had 'urged society and the government to let our actions be guided only by the truth'. The reply was 'more lies, more slander and more hypocrisy,' he wrote. Mr Gotari rejected the resignation.
