MPs back Rao

Leaders of India's ruling Congress (I) party rejected opposition demands for the removal of the Prime Minister, P V Narasimha Rao, in connection with the country's largest securities scandal, AFP reports from New Delhi. Mr Rao's cabinet colleagues rallied behind him and the Finance Minister, Manmohan Singh.
