Palestinian human rights groups called on Yasser Arafat to investigate the case of a West Bank Palestinian, who was declared brain-dead this week after being detained without trial by the Palestinian security forces for seven months.
Human rights activists reported after visiting Mahmoud Jumaiel, 26, that he had shown signs of savage beating. Mr Jumaiel was arrested last December on suspicion of belonging to the Fatah Eagles, a dissident faction of Mr Arafat's movement. Eric Silver - Jerusalem
