Patten inquiry
Chris Patten, the Governor of Hong Kong, yesterday ordered an inquiry into unrest at a camp for Vietnamese boat people which drew allegations of a government cover-up, Reuter reports from Hong Kong. Mr Patten appointed two magistrates to investigate an incident last week at the Whitehead camp in which the government admitted - almost a week after the event - that more than 200 people were injured, not just one.
