Poll triumph
Bissau - Joao Bernardo Vieira, Guinea Bissau's leader for 14 years, declared victory yesterday in the country's first multi-party elections after a close presidential run-off vote. But a top election official predicted the result would be contested by Mr Vieira's challenger, Kumba Iala, who won in the capital, Bissau. AP
