Professor held
Sheikh Saad Bouh Kamara, head of Mauretania's Human Rights League, was arrested on charges of incitement and agitation, Reuter reports from Nouakchott.
Mr Kamara, who is a member of the opposition Union for Democracy and Progress party and a professor of sociology, was told this was because of statements he made alleging that children of Haratin, or former slaves, had been abducted and sold into slavery themselves.
