Professor shoots two dead
MONTREAL (Reuter) - A disgruntled professor opened fire in a university building yesterday killing two people and injuring three others. The professor, who taught mechanical engineering and was apparently angry that he might lose his job, was arrested and taken to police headquarters.
Two hostages taken by the man during the attack at Concordia University were released and treated for shock. A police spokesman said two of the injured were men and one was a woman.
Morlan Reddock, a student at the university, told CBC television that he was sitting in an office on the ninth floor of the building when the attack began. 'We were in my teacher's office talking and we heard noises. I looked out and saw this man walking. And my teacher said he had a gun,' he said. Reddock said the attacker was a professor at the university, but his name was not released.
