Peking - A veteran human rights campaigner in Shanghai has been sentenced to three years re-education through labour without a formal trial, writes Teresa Poole. Yang Zhou, of the Chinese Human Rights Association, was charged with publishing reactionary material and stirring up public unrest, his wife said yesterday. In his fifties, he has been in detention since May when other Shanghai dissidents were taken into custody.
