Residents in the Russian Far East had a lucky escape over the weekend when a Pacific Fleet ammunition dump blew up, causing a large fire and scattering unexploded shells over a six- mile radius, writes Helen Womack in Moscow. Tremors were felt in Vladivostok, 60 miles from the dump near the village of Novonezhino.
