Saudi police sacked
Bangkok - Two top Thai policemen have been sacked and will be charged in connection with a long-running scandal involving stolen Saudi jewellery, the deputy interior minister said yesterday. The minister, Den Tohmeena, said other policemen held as suspects had implicated Lieutenant-Generals Chalor Kerdthes and Sophon Sawikamin in the case, involving the theft of dollars 20m ( pounds 13m) in gems from a Saudi palace, allegedly by a Thai servant, and the death of a gem trader's wife and son.
