The Senegalese opposition leader Abdoulaye Wade was arrested on the day after gunmen killed Babacar Seye, 70, the vice-president of the council that ratifies election results, AP reports from Dakar. The council had just begun examining provisional results of polls that gave a victory to President Abdou Diouf's Socialist Party, but which Mr Wade's Democratic Party claimed to have won.
