Somalis wage banana war

Mogadishu - Two powerful Somali faction leaders yesterday banned banana- exporting ships from docking in the capital's seaport, in a move aimed at depriving their arch-rival, Mohamed Farah Aideed, of finances. A statement signed by Ali Mahdi, who controls north Mogadishu, and Osman Hassan Ali "Ato", General Aideed's former financier, warned of grave consequences for ships ignoring the order. Reuter
