South Africa hit by strike wave
JOHANNESBURG - Mining, steel, telecommunications and postal unions declared disputes with employers, adding to a wave of industrial unrest sweeping South Africa. Catering, metal, paper and oil, municipal and court workers are already involved in 48 separate protests, despite warnings by President Nelson Mandela that industrial unrest could harm prospects for foreign investment.
