Spain's opposition Popular Party called for the Prime Minister, Felipe Gonzalez, to take political responsibilty for corruption scandals affecting the former heads of the central bank and Civil Guard, Reuter reports from Madrid. 'It is unheard of that Gonzalez should try to avoid responsibility for what appears to be a conspiracy among the financial decision-making centres for personal enrichment,' said a Popular Party spokesman. A government spokesman said Mr Gonzalez would deal with corruption as a priority in his state- of-the-nation address on 19 April.
