MOGADISHU (Reuter) - A tense round of pay negotiations between the United Nations and about 900 redundant Somali security guards ended in deadlock, with a show of strength by US and UN troops helping to prevent any violence. The guards, who stopped work on 8 December, are demanding salaries for the whole of December, January and February.
