Turks kill Kurdish rebels
Turkish troops killed 11 Kurdish guerrillas in six separate clashes in south-eastern Turkey in a crackdown on the separatist rebels, AP reports from Ankara. The Turkish army has stepped up its campaign against the rebels, launching a massive land and air operation against their bases, killing at least 57 rebels since Thursday. Kurdish rebels were reported to have kidnapped three tourists - two Germans and a New Zealander - in eastern Turkey yesterday, the third abduction in two months.
