ROME - Mario Santo Di Matteo, a leading Mafia turncoat whose disappearance led crime fighters to fear that the Mafia was plotting a bloody offensive, turned himself in to police in Terni on Friday, police sources said. Di Matteo has admitted taking part in the murder two years ago of Giovanni Falcone, the top anti-Mafia judge. His testimony has been vital in the case against 18 people accused of the killing.
