The UN Secretary-General, Boutros Boutros-Ghali, described his talks yesterday with President Boris Yeltsin as positive, but ruled out giving Russian troops the status of UN peace-keepers in former Soviet republics, AP reports from Moscow. Mr Boutros-Ghali praised Russia's role in helping to end hostilities in the former Yugoslavia, especially diplomatic efforts that led to last month's lifting of the siege of Sarajevo.
