Yanomami death-toll put at 73
As many as 73 Yanomami Indians were murdered by gold miners in a remote corner of the Amazon jungle, Brazilian government officials said yesterday, Reuter reports from Boa Vista. Officials of the government Indian agency, Funai, said the massacre in Roraima state, near the Venezuelan border, was the worst in the known history of the Yanomami.
