Cuttings: History's champions
THE Garden History Society and the Centre for the Conservation of Historic Parks and Gardens are holding a conference (14-17 April) at the University of York to discuss the principles of protection for historic parks and gardens. What should be protected, why and by whom? The conference will also examine the role of official and voluntary garden conservation agencies, the critical question of funding and the long-term need for training. The fee, including accommodation, is pounds 225 ( pounds 150 for conference only). Contact Geoffrey Evans of the GHS at: The Orchard, Pollards Hill, Limpsfield, Surrey RH8 0QX.
