Cuttings: Out, damned spot

HELLEBORES have been suffering badly during this wet winter. Horrible leaf spot, kept at bay during the past couple of dry winters, has erupted in full fig, showing large, hideous brown patches. Cutting off all old leaves helps, but this year hellebores will need persistent spraying as well. Use a systemic fungicide containing benomyl every three to four weeks.
