Amazon has released lists of the most-wished for toys in France, Germany, the UK and the US as the Christmas shopping season heads into full swing.

The list shows that new versions of old classics such as Connect-4 and Lego, are joining high-tech electronic items on children's letters to Santa.

In Germany, the majority of most-wished items were board games and card games, while in France Playmobil sets made up over 50 percent of the list. US and UK children had the highest number of high-tech and electronic items, but also wished for new twists of classic games such as Monopoly City, Lego and Connect 4 x 4.

The average price of items on the list was the most in France, at €35.91. The US followed at €25.31, followed by the UK at €22.63 and Germany at €22.45.
