Househunter

Bridge House, Pershore, Worcestershire

From the front it is a listed Georgian town house, from the back it looks more like a country cottage. Bridge House is a rare private home on the main street of this pretty Georgian town. It has three main reception rooms with lots of panelling, six bedrooms, three bathrooms and more than half an acre of gardens. Jackson-Stops & Staff in Chipping Camden (01386 840224) is asking pounds 275,000 for the freehold.

For what it's worth

One of the worst problems thrown up by the English system of moving house is that your sale or purchase can fall through at the last minute. One answer is to go for a delayed completion. This is a particularly good option for owners of houses in great demand. It means they can exchange quickly, but still leave themselves time to go house-hunting as cash buyers. Andrew Lever of John D Wood's Wimbledon office sold a six-bedroom period house in Putney, south-west London, this way. The exchange went through in July, but completion has been delayed until April next year.

Who's moving

Roger Whittaker's got to leave old London town, but it will be with around pounds 1.65m in his pocket. The man who sang about the rough life on the streets of the capital is selling his four-storey double-fronted house in Kensington Square through Knight Frank & Rutley and Keith Cardale Groves.
