From the Design at Work fair in Belgium to 'Hopenhagen' debates on sustainability: next week is all about new design solutions. Also coming up: the Red Dot Design Awards and a display of Florence's most stunning interiors.

Kortrijk, Belgium

Previously running as a satellite to the prestigious Interieur Design biennale , the Design at Work fair event takes place in its own right for the first time this year. Highlights include a presentation by Ji Lee, creative director of Google.com, forums, lectures and workshops in a specially built agora podium, a selection of the best designs, and Urban Office, a creative and flexible 12-meter-high office tower demonstrating new ways of working.

Red Dot Design Awards

Essen, Germany

The world's biggest design award in terms of submissions honors the year's outstanding communication and product designs. An exhibition featuring the winners will open at the red dot museum the next day.
