Arsenal to lose Schwarz

Stefan Schwarz, Arsenal's Swedish international midfielder, said yesterday that he no longer wished to play for Arsenal, nor did he want to be in Sweden's squad for next month's Umbro Cup, which also involves England, Brazil and Japan.

Schwarz is quoted in the Swedish newspaper Sydsvenska Dagbladet as saying: "I do not wish to play in a tournament that has no meaning, I hope that Tommy Svensson [the Swedish coach] will understand."

He also said that he and his wife were not enjoying England: "I've played all season without being happy but I have tried all the time. I would not like to stay another season - football-wise it just does not suit me."
