Darren Hall, the men's singles champion, is seeded to take a record seventh singles title at the English National Championships in Norwich this weekend, although the Essex player has Colin Haughton, an England international, in his quarter of the draw. At the other end Anders Nielsen, the England No 2 from Surrey, is seeded to meet Hall in the final in what would be a repeat of last year's match. In the women's singles, Sue Lane, the champion from Devon, has had her chances of repeating last's year victory enhanced after the withdrawal of Jo Muggeridge, the No 2 seed who has not fully recovered from recent knee surgery.
