Darts legend Phil Taylor has become synonymous with the World Matchplay event currently taking place in Blackpool.

Taylor has won 15 World Matchplay titles – including seven in a row from 2008 – since the tournament began in 1994 and he is on course to add to his tally.

The 55-year-old from Stoke-on-Trent had a scare in round one when he scraped through 10-8 but he looked more like his normal self in cruising past Mensur Suljovic 11-5. Next up for Taylor, who is 9-2 for outright glory with event sponsors BetVictor, is a quarter-final clash against Mervyn King. Taylor, a 16-time world champion, is 1-12 to win, while King can be backed at 7s.

With Michael van Gerwen, Gary Anderson and Adrian Lewis also still in the event, the PDC’s top-four ranked players make up half of the last eight and they could make up the semi-final field.

In the other quarter-final clashes, reigning champion Van Gerwen is 1-8 to beat Dave Chisnall, you can get 10-11 on Lewis defeating Peter Wright and BetVictor make Anderson 1-12 to see off Steve Beaton.

BetVictor have a number of special markets on each day of the tournament, with Chisnell and Van Gerwen co-favourites at 11-5 to score the most 180s on Matchday 6. They also offer 1-2 on there being a 170 checkout at the event as well as 11-4 on a nine-dart finish, while you can get 5-6 if you fancy anyone other than Van Gerwen to win the event.
