Clubs to reveal plans tomorrow

Courage National League First Division clubs are to announce their recommendations for the future of the professional game in England at a press conference tomorrow, writes Owen Slot. The chief areas of concern in the report are contracts for players and new competitions. Representatives of the clubs have been meeting regularly since mid-September, when they passed a vote of no-confidence in the RFU's commission, which has also been working on a blueprint for the future. The RFU blueprint is to be published on Wednesday, though it was revealed yesterday in the Independent that the RFU's controversial moratorium on professionalism is to stay until the end of the season. Peter Wheeler, the president of Leicester, said yesterday: "The problem with the moratorium is it should have been a moratorium for transfers and registrations. It hasn't, so we have had everyone scurrying around in the last two months."
