Jimmy Adams took five wickets with his left-arm spin, a career- best return, as the West Indies ended a run of seven defeats with an emphatic seven-wicket win against Pakistan in their World Series match in Adelaide yesterday. The wicketkeeper Junior Murray hit 86 off 79 balls.

The former New Zealand Test cricketer Lawrie Miller has died aged 73 after an undisclosed illness. A gritty lefthanded opening batsman, Miller played 13 Tests for New Zealand between 1952 and 1958, scoring 346 runs at an average of 13.84.
