Malcolm Marshall, the former West Indies fast bowler who is beginning a three-year contract with Hampshire as first-team coach, has been approached by the West Indies Board of Control to assist its new team manager, Clive Lloyd. The county anticipate that Marshall will be able to combine both jobs.
The Kent captain, Mark Benson, seems certain to miss the start of the new season after damaging knee ligaments during a training session.
