Cricket: Ranjan Madugalle ppointed match referee for England's one-day international series

Ranjan Madugalle, the former Sri Lanka captain, has been appointed match referee for England's one-day international series and the opening three Tests against Australia this summer. Cammie Smith, the former West Indies wicketkeeper, will referee the final three.

Allan Lamb, the former England batsman, has turned down an offer from Sussex to resume his playing career.

Jacques Kallis, the 21-year-old South African all-rounder, has agreed a one-year contract with Middlesex.
