TONY MIDDLETON and Paul Terry hit the season's first first-class centuries in Hampshire's 353 for 6 declared against Oxford University at The Parks yesterday.

Terry was first to three figures in an opening partnership of 189 with Middleton and he was finally out for 112 in a stand containing two sixes and 14 fours. Middleton's century, which included nine boundaries, took more than an hour longer before he became the first of Patrick Trimby's three victims, after contributing 102.

Oxford, left to bat for 35 minutes, were 24 without loss at the close.

(Second day of three; Hampshire won toss)
