Shot of the day

Even with England in trouble at 15 for 2 and Ryan Harris bowling brilliantly, Kevin Pietersen had no problem with crashing his fourth ball to the midwicket boundary with a defiant hook.

Ball of the day

The last ball of Peter Siddle’s first over was an absolute beauty, taking the edge of Joe Root’s bat towards Michael Clarke at second slip. However, Australia’s captain spilt the catch and a chance to reduce England to 22-3.

Moment of the day

Australia’s DRS use may have been widely mocked but Alastair Cook’s review of his own dismissal was arguably the worst in the series. After he had been given out lbw, it was not a surprise when Hawk-Eye showed the ball crashing into middle stump.
