Dalai Lama rumoured to be attending England's final ODI in India

Given his patience and mastery of inner peace, the Dalai Lama has some of the attributes required to be an excellent test cricketer.

However the Tibetan spiritual leader could be in attendance on Sunday when England play their final one-day game against India.

The dead-rubber match is being played at the picturesque Dharamsala Cricket Ground, which has the Himalayan mountains as a stunning backdrop.

His Holiness is currently in Jaipur for a literary festival although it is thought he may return to attend the 50-over game this weekend.

The Nobel Peace Prize winner has attended Indian Premier League games at the ground in the past although his fellow monks were remaining tight-lipped about the possibility of him returning there this Sunday.

In his absence, members of the England team visited his North Indian residence in the Buddhist temple complex at McLeod Ganj, which is about 10 miles from their base.

Kevin Pietersen, perhaps hoping for a calming influence on his notoriously hot-headed temperament, posted a photo on Twitter of himself in front of a painting of the Dalai Lama with the caption:

"His Holiness himself.. Such an interesting morning visiting his residence!"
