England could only reach a disappointing 217 all out in the third one-day match against India at Chennai.

Nasse Hussain won the toss and decided to bat, a decision that looked to be justified by a quick-scoring opening stand of 42, dominated by Marcus Trescothick.

However, once huis batting partner Nick Knight had lofted a slower ball to Mongia, England lost the initiative.

Vaughan and Snape edged England towards a respectable total, but were unable to help their side reach a daunting total. Leaving India firmly in pole position.
