South Africa's pace attack all but skittled an experienced Indian batting line-up by reducing the tourists to 136 for 9 on a rain-hit first day of the opening Test in Centurion yesterday.

Morne Morkel took four wickets – including his 100th Test victim – and Dale Steyn three after Graeme Smith put India in. Only Sachin Tendulkar (36) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (33 not out) put up a fight before bad light ended play early.
