Shahid Afridi: Pakistan captain served legal notice after claiming he gets 'more love' in India

Pakistan Twenty20 captain Shahid Afridi has been served a legal notice after claiming that he gets ‘more love’ in India than in his native country.

The Judicial Activism Panel (JAP), based in Lahore, has asked the 36-year-old response to clarify comments he made upon arriving in India for the World Twenty20 on Sunday.

“We have always enjoyed playing in India. People here always give us a lot of love," Afridi said.

“There are very few nations where I've enjoyed cricket as much as I've enjoyed cricket in India.

"We got a lot of love here, we did not get this much love even in Pakistan, I can tell you. We always enjoyed playing here," he added.

According to ARY News, JAP contend that the remarks ‘hurt the sentiments of the nation’.

Former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad criticised Afridi’s remarks, saying: "These cricketers should be ashamed of themselves for saying such a thing. Shame on you."

"What have the Indians given us? Speak the truth even while in India,” he told Aaj TV. “For the last five years what have they given us or done with Pakistan cricket.

“Having served Pakistan cricket for so many years I am shocked and hurt to hear such comments from our players."
