Yorkshire end their long wait for silverware

Yesterday's other top-flight match saw Glamorgan – another club destined for the drop – manage 258 all out thanks to Michael Powell (56) and Robert Croft (70no) against Surrey at Cardiff. The seamer Ed Giddins fared best of the visiting attack, taking 4 for 71 with the old ball.

Sussex's closest pursuers, Hampshire, reduced Nottinghamshire to 56 for 4, before Usman Afzaal (75no) and Bilal Shafayat (42) launched the recovery in a 97-run stand for the fifth wicket on the way to 164 for 5 at Trent Bridge.

Rock-bottom Derbyshire crumbled to the seam of Warwickshire's Charlie Dagnall (6 for 50) and Dougie Brown (4 for 20) at the Racecourse Ground, as they crumbled to 106 all out.

Middlesex's Robin Weston (106) figured in a 143-run opening stand with Andy Strauss (92) on the way to his century against Worcestershire at New Road. Strauss dominated the early passage of play before the Londoners lost four wickets for 15 runs. But Weston found another ally in Paul Weekes (45no), hitting a 164-ball ton which helped Middlesex to 258 for 6.
