Alderbrook, winner of the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham in March, finished second in the Group Two Grosser Preis der Wirtschaft at Baden- Baden yesterday.

Julie Cecil's six-year-old was beaten by three-quarters of a length by Andre Fabre's Freedom Cry. She added that Alderbrook would run next wherever the going is soft.

King's Theatre, last year's King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes winner, finished third on his American debut yesterday.

The colt, who left Henry Cecil in the winter, was beaten just over three lengths by Correntino in an allowance race over an extended mile at Belmont Park in New York.

His new trainer, Bill Mott, is now set to run the four-year-old at Atlantic City next month.
