Laura and Jason Kenny headline Great Britain team for Track Cycling World Cup event in London

The couple, who boast 10 Olympic gold medals between them, are looking for a strong finish to 2018

Laura and Jason Kenny have both been named in the Great Britain team for the Track Cycling World Cup at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London next month.

Cycling’s most famous couple returned to action at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in February, with Jason Kenny winning a silver medal in the team sprint and Laura Kenny claiming silver in the women’s team pursuit, only six months after giving birth to their first child.

The British squad will look to continue a strong start to the World Cup season after winning 15 medals in the first two rounds, in Paris and Milton respectively, and claiming overall victory in both.

Jason Kenny lines up with Phil Hindes, Ryan Owens and Joe Truman for the men's sprint events while Laura Kenny, Katie Archibald, sisters Elinor and Meg Barker, Ellie Dickinson and Neah Evans contest the women's endurance events.

Katy Marchant and Lauren Bate return to World Cup action in the women's sprint events and world champion Ethan Hayter joins Matt Wells, Will Tidball, Ethan Vernon and Fred Wright in the team pursuit squad.

The London round of the World Cup, which will run from December 14 to December 16, will also include para-cycling events for the first time, with the men and women’s C1-5 500m time trial, the men and women’s tandem sprint and the C1-C5 team sprint all included on the programme.

Performance director Stephen Park said on britishcycling.org.uk: “This is a historic moment for the Great Britain Cycling Team as we have riders from both our able-bodied and para-cycling squads competing at the same event.

“Having announced a strong para-cycling squad last week, I'm pleased to be able to confirm an exciting squad to contest the able-bodied events.

“I'm looking forward to seeing how our senior academy riders step up to race against some of the world's best cyclists and I know they will relish the opportunity."
