Dermot Gallagher, from Banbury, has been chosen as the referee for the Littlewoods Pools FA Charity Shield match between Blackburn and Everton at Wembley on 13 August.

Juan Jose Bellini, president of the Colombian Football Federation announced his resignation yesterday amid allegations that he was a friend of the leaders of the Cali drug cartel.
