Football: Cardiff may quit League
CARDIFF CITY are considering pulling out of the Football League and joining the newly formed League of Wales. Rick Wright, the club's financial controller who saved them from a winding-up action 15 months ago, said: 'I would see the League of Wales as a way forward for the club.'
The idea is one of two Wright has, the other being to achieve Premier League status as quickly as possible because he believes a British or even European super league is not too far away.
'Cardiff City would have no chance of gaining entry to any British or European League from its present status, but as the dominant force in the LOW we could guarantee European football every year and that, I'm convinced, would pack out Ninian Park every time.'
