David Ginola could be set to leave Newcastle, only a year after arriving from Paris St-Germain. The Frenchman, who has been linked with both Arsenal and Barcelona, is said to be unhappy with his role at St James' Park.

"I want to give my best but the present system just doesn't suit me," he said in a Sunday newspaper. "I spend more time defending than I do attacking."

Arsene Wenger, who is ready to be installed as Arsenal's new manager, is believed to be ready to make a pounds 4m bid.
