KIERON DYER will be out of action for at least six weeks after breaking his leg in Ipswich's 3-2 win over Watford in their First Division match last night.

The 20-year-old was carried off 10 minutes after scoring Ipswich's opening goal in a victory which lifts them to second spot on the table, nine points behind Sunderland.

Dyer collapsed in a heap in the 26th minute, already the victim of two crushing tackles earlier in the match. When he had scored his goal, turning on the edge of the penalty area to beat Alec Chamberlain, the pain was already etched on his face.

Birmingham wasted their chance to move up from fifth in a 0-0 draw with Norwich.

In the Second Division, Fulham had Kit Symons to thank for the second- half equaliser at Bournemouth. The 1-1 result left them four points clear of Preston at the top of the table.
