The Premier League has won the latest stage in its legal battle to prevent live Scandinavian TV broadcasts of Saturday afternoon fixtures by pubs and clubs in this country. The League has won a High Court order against one of the main suppliers of the transmission diverting equipment. The devices will no longer be sold, and remaining stocks will be handed over to the League's solicitors.

The Manchester City goalkeeper Tommy Wright has been ruled out of Northern Ireland's World Cup qualifier against Germany in Belfast on Wednesday because of a thigh injury.

Dundee United have completed the signing of the Swedish forward Goran Marklund from Vasalund for an initial fee of pounds 100,000.

Anders Limpar, the former Arsenal and Sweden winger whose contract with Birmingham City was cancelled in the close season, has joined the Stockholm side AIK Solna.
