For Barcelona, the Champions' League campaign is still a source of disappointment. After last month's 3-2 defeat in Newcastle, the Catalan side were held 2-2 at home by PSV Eindhoven last night.

Luis Enrique twice gave Barcelona the lead but first Gilles De Bilde and then Peter Moller, four minutes from time, equalised for the Dutch side, who had Christian van der Weerden sent off in the first half. It was the first point for both teams, who remain three points adrift of Kiev and Newcastle in Group B.

In the other game in Manchester United's section, Feyenoord strolled to a 2-0 home win over Kosice through a Jean-Paul van Gastel penalty and a Julio Cruz header.

The European Cup holders Borussia Dortmund, whose players were criticised last week by the club president for complacency, responded by thrashing Sparta Prague 4-1.
